Once or twice each summer on a weekend, the sea parts in the Minas Basin of Nova Scotia, dropping in six hours from 15 meters to nearly zero. When that happens, we start running. The 5K course loops out and back from Sand Point in Five Islands while the 10K course starts at Soley Cove and finishes with the 5k at Sand Point. Both runs have spectacular scenery! The Basket Run for the kids is a wonderful experience for those under 12. Buses will transport both 5k and 10k runners to their starts and parking for all (including volunteers and spectators) will be at the ball field in Five Islands, Highway #2 and well marked, with experienced volunteers directing you to your parking spot.
Our event is one of the oldest road races in North America. Competitive runners, recreational runners and walkers are all encouraged to participate. Both the 6 Mile and 2 Mile races have been selected for the 2019 Run Nova Scotia Road Race Series.
